Clearing Browser Cache

Every web browser stores web pages, images, cookies, and other downloaded content on your computer. This is called the browser’s cache. Clearing it occasionally or regularly can help protect your privacy and free up some space in your computer. Since every browser is different, the following sections will outline the steps involved in clearing the cache for several popular web browsers.  

 Internet Explorer 9.0, 10.0 & 11.0 | Internet Explorer 8.0 | Internet Explorer 7.0Mozilla Firefox | Google Chrome

 

Internet Explorer 9.0, 10.0 & 11.0 Users

  1. Start Internet Explorer

  2. Click on the “Tools” (via the Gear Icon) > Safety option

  3. Select “Delete Browsing History”

  4. Check off the “Temporary Internet Files” and “Cookies” section

  5. Click “Delete”

  6. Once the process has successfully cleared your cache and cookies, you will get a confirmation at the bottom of the window.

  7. You can close the “Internet Options” window by clicking the “OK” button.

  8. Close Internet Explorer then restart it and login again.

Internet Explorer 8.0 

  1. Start Internet Explorer

  2. Click on the “Tools” menu option

  3. Select “Delete Browsing History”

  4. Check off the “Temporary Internet Files” and “Cookies” section

  5. Click “Delete”

  6. Once the process has completed, you can close the “Internet Options” window by 

    clicking the “OK” button.

  7. Close Internet Explorer then restart it and login again.

Internet Explorer 7.0 Users

  1. Start Internet Explorer

  2. Click on the “Tools” menu option

  3. Select “Delete Browsing History”

  4. Click on the “Delete Files” button located on the left in the Temporary Internet Files section

  5. Click “OK”

  6. Click “OK” to close Internet Options

  7. Close Internet Explorer

  8. Restart Internet Explorer and login again.

Mozilla Firefox   

  1. Click “Tools”

  2. Select Options

  3. Select the Privacy tab

  4. Click on the “Settings” button and choose “Cache” 

  5. Click “OK” 

  6. Click on the “Clear now” button

  7. Click “OK.”

Google Chrome

  1. Click the wrench icon on the browser toolbar 

  2. Select Tools

  3. Select “Clear browsing data”

  4. In the dialog that appears, select the “Delete Cache” check box

  5. Use the menu at the top to select the amount of data that you want to delete. Select beginning of time to delete everything.

  6. Click “Clear browsing data.” Click “OK.”
